For a quick, compelling (and heart-wrenching at times) read, this book fits the bill perfectly. The narrator's experiences with God tie the sometimes fragmented narrative together, making the reader wonder what her visions mean and what is next for her. The first half of the book is its strongest, leaving what should have been the most compelling portion lacking. Time jumps became bigger and bigger as the book went on, and it seemed like the authors were in a hurry to wrap it up. The journey towards priesthood and the breakaway religious movement that she is a part of are in fact the least developed and lack depth. Pick up the book for the emotional journey of its protagonist and heartbreaking situation in South Sudan, and her compelling wrestling with God. Unfortunately, it doesn't fulfill its promise of a thrilling political drama coming from the potential of a female pope.
