Based upon a 2009 GQ article, Game Brain, written by Jeanne Marie Laskasin, regarding the discovery of an accomplished Pittsburgh pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu. He was able to connect the conditions of head trauma of football players to their cause of brain damage which would not show up on normal CT scans. Great performance by Will Smith, keeping an Nigerian accent all the way through. The film does a good job in showing how difficult it was for Dr. Omalu and the few other doctors that supported the science, behind his medical findings. The scandal that they faced was due to backlash from the football fans, and the denial, deviance, and power of the National Football League (NFL). Special Features on this DVD has interviews of the real people involved, as well as a clip of actor Will Smith, stating that he wanted to make this film since his son was getting interested in football. Dr. Bennet Amalu has a co-authored a 2017 book, Truth: Doesn't Have a Side: My Alarming Discovery about the Danger of Contact Sports. Forward by Will Smith.
