I was embarassed to be reading a book where a 6-inch pixie is one of the main characters! And then the brief appearance of a leprochaun and small fairies. Felt rather juvenile to me. I prefer Karen Marie Moning's big, hunky fairies...thank you very much! This book isn't labelled YA (13-21) but it seems like it's better suited for younger adults (early 20s) {reasons - tame nature of the action, no swearing, non-existent sexual content, etc}. The tomatoes thing I thought was a bit cheezy and unimaginative. Come on... This book was by no means thought provoking! I felt no connection to any of the characters. Certainly the author must have has it in mind to leave LOTS OF ROOM for Rachel's character to grow as, in this book, she's not too smart (poor planner), makes a lot of mistakes, and comes off as rather weak despite her good reflexes. I'm sure she'll become wiser, almighty powerful, and grow thicker skin in a few books... Glad I got #1 over and done with. I'll try the next. I won't give up yet as this series has great reviews further on in the series
