The Japanese schoolteacher in 'F' says to her student, under circumstances that would be difficult to describe, "Let us pass beyond the boundaries of good taste & become one together", which is exactly what me & this movie did one Saturday morning. With all the terrible reviews I figured I should keep track of the ones that were worth the price of admission, but I lost count somewhere in the middle. An impressively international series of finalities & dissolutions, ranging from the poetic to the practically unwatchable, with a lot of toilet humor & dark sexuality in the mix. Many are effectively just punch lines to death jokes & horror tropes, but you'll find a lot of talent featured here, so candidly I'm not sure what some of these other reviewers were expecting. I loved the silky cool eroticism of 'O', the bizarre historical puppetry of 'H', the wacko mosquito overload of 'Z', the total conceptual commitment of 'L', the powerful karmic horror of 'Y' (& these are still just the creme de la creme)...but it was the Hollywood cynicism & absolutely hilarious visual mayhem of 'W' that's taking home my carnation. Great fun for a genre fan. CR
