A teenage werewolf falls in love with a human boy while her pack struggles to regain order after losing their leader and being forced from their home. This is a classic paranormal teen romance from before the genre became popular, and definitely has a different flavor than most of the more recent examples I have read--readers sensitive to mature content in terms of relationships, language, and violence might want to approach with caution. As other readers have mentioned, in contrast to books like Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver series, where the wolves are truly human and behave accordingly, I found it unique that Klause's werewolves are so fundamentally a different species, even though they try to remain inconspicuous and live within human society.
