I am required by super sekrit Latino law to watch all movies containing brown people. Having said that, I really, really loved La Mission. Not because it was well-written (because it wasn't) or because the acting was amazing (because it wasn't). I loved La Mission because of Benjamin Bratt and his co-star, Benjamin Bratt's facial hair. He was smokin' in this movie, y'all, smokin!' Plus all his tattoos of dark-eyed ladies and his low-rider dedicated to his mom and his orange kitchen. I want an orange kitchen! Despite the meh acting and the meh writing, there are way more things to love about this movie than there are things to rag on. Did I mention that Aztec dancers dance, dance, dance away in more than one scene? THERE ARE AZTEC DANCERS!!! THERE'S AN ORANGE KITCHEN! THERE'S JESSE BORREGO FROM FAME!! Plus, I really loved Che's son's Jesse's friend with the long curly hair and a Filipino gf. Long-Haired-Friend is so amazing and doesn't stop being friends with Jesse even though all Jesse's other friends go stank when Jesse is outed. This movie takes things low 'n' slow, y'all, and that's an awesome thing.
