This might be my single favorite album of the 80s, and it’s from one of the most underappreciated bands from that era. Doolittle is largely dominated by tight, pithy songs that swing from grinding angst (Debaser, Tame, Crackity Jones) to almost sweet, goofy pop (Here Comes Your Man, La La Love You). The album is too punk to be rock and too melodic to be punk. I suppose it would snuggle quite well between the Ramone’s "Rocket to Russia" and Green Day’s "Dookie."
