I learned new things from this book such as the fact that there are different types of things that you can make clothes out of and some of them are more environmentally friendly than others. The author said in the beginning that she didn't want a gloomy book, that she wanted Not Your Typical Book About the Environment to be a book that made you "hopeful". How is that any better than a gloomy book? Maybe if it is to cheerful then people will think that everyone is already helping the environment so much that they no longer need to contribute as well. On the other hand, I suppose that if the book showed all the good things about what we are doing for the environment then some people will be inspired to try and do all the environmentally friendly things in the book. It really depends on how you look at it. Even though it was filled with information, I was slightly bored by it. Perhaps I need a break from non-fiction books.
