Rye Mallett, a fearless "freight dog" pilot charged with flying cargo to far-flung locations, is often rough-spoken and all business, but soft on regulations when they get in the way of meeting a deadline. But he does have a rock-solid reputation: He will fly in the foulest weather, day or night. So when Rye is asked to fly into a completely fogbound northern Georgia town and deliver a mysterious black box to a Dr. Lambert, he doesn't ask questions. As Rye's plane nears the isolated landing strip, more trouble than inclement weather awaits him. He is greeted first by a sabotage attempt on his plane that causes him to crash land; and then by Dr. Brynn O'Neal, who claims she was sent for the box in Dr. Lambert's stead. Despite Rye's "no-involvement" policy when it comes to other people's problems, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to the intrigue surrounding his cargo . . . and to the mysterious and alluring Brynn. Soon Rye and Brynn are in a treacherous forty-eight-hour race to deliver the box before time runs out. With everyone from law enforcement officials to hired thugs hot on their heels, they must learn to trust each other so they can protect their valuable cargo from those who would kill for it.

Predictable cast; the romantic connection between the two main folks is unbelievable and hard to imagine given the anxiety and stress in the story line. With a race against time, the plot dragged much too much. The conclusion was too hurried for my taste - seemed like everything got neatly wrapped up with a big sigh. Not a book I would pick up for a reread!

Plot. With its fast-paced writing style from the queen of romantic suspense, this will draw you in from the very beginning.

I go by the 50 page rule.
You either like it or you don't.
I didn't and I won't recommend it.

Competent enough, but extremely by-the-numbers. Several of the characters were stereotypical (the cocky, bad boy pilot; the kind-hearted doctor looking to prove herself), with little to make them stand out from similar types. Being a race against time story, I feel it should have had a faster pace, but it's rather slow-going, even tedious.
For me the part which really didn't work was the love story. In addition to the two being uninteresting on their own, their sudden passion is overblown and unconvincing. Aside from the fact that both were physically attractive and loners (him more than her), I didn't understand why their bond was profound enough to merit such sparks.
Not a bad book by any means-- I do admit the villains are fun and some scenes are suspenseful-- but not one I can see myself revisiting. I'd recommend it if you need something light to read during a trip.

Sandra Brown has done it again. A fantastic read. I was hooked immediately and couldn’t put it down. A nice blend of mystery and romance.

When Rye Mallet took the job of flying a package in foul weather to be delivered, he didn't realize the trouble that he would face. After is plane crashes and he meets Dr. Brynn O'Neal, things get really confusing for him. But too many people are after the package that he was delivering. Rye has sworn off all relationships, but is drawn to Brynn. The two of them race against time to make sure the package gets to where Brynn wants it to go while dodging cops and others who are after them and trying to ignore the feelings between them. This is a very good book from beginning to end.

Another great thriller from Sandra Brown. I listened to the audio version and Victor Slezak did the book justice once again. Wish I didn’t have to wait a year for her next book!
