Seven years ago Atagaris set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a "mockumentary" bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy. Now, a new crew has been assembled. But this time they're not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life's work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost. Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves.

"Into the Drowning Deep" was my first book to read by Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire). I picked up the book mainly because I am a sucker for stories involving monsters, especially of the ocean variety. Without giving too much away, suffice to say I was not disappointed. While "Into the Drowning Deep" is a long book, it was never boring. The plot was interesting, and the characters were likable enough to keep me engaged. There could have been more development for said characters, and the plot had a few minor points that were never fully resolved. But, small faults aside, "Into the Drowning Deep" is a fast-paced and engaging read.
