Another day, another series that has absolutely ruined me and made me clutch the book to my chest and wish that the story didn't have to end. This book wrapped up the trilogy so well.

Once again, the characters are such a strong point. Lia keeps me reading and invested despite the slow-moving action at certain points; she's so inspiring, so brave, so completely dedicated to her cause and to the people that she will do anything for it, even break her own heart. The boys were a completely different story for me this time: I ADORED Kaden, and Rafe made me want to throttle him. Despite being the dreamy prince of Dalbreck, he's also insufferable and controlling in this one, and I know it's circumstances that cause the change, but wow, with that juxtaposed against Kaden's constant concern and soft kindness it was impossible not to shift allegiances. Learning more about Venda's Assassin and his life, his family, his upbringing made my heart ache, and I absolutely adore the ending he was given.

The story here is, again, slow-moving at points. It's a long book, and there were numerous points where I felt I wanted more. I think this could have been at least a hundred pages shorter and that would've helped the overall feel, but that being said, I really did enjoy the story. Having Lia and Rafe clash over their loyalties to not only their kingdoms but Venda as well and the people who live there was an excellent contrast to their idyllic Terravin life of the past. They had to become different people, and the time spent plotting and waiting was ultimately necessary for that to develop. Pauline is also one of my favourite parts of this whole series - I got so excited when her perspective was up next. Every side character here is so amazing for such different reasons: Jeb, Sven, Orrin, Griz, Eben, Natiya, Berdi. The list could go on forever, and each of them is such a distinct personality.

I'm very glad I decided to give this series a chance, even though I'm late to the game. It's full of characters who are strong in such different ways, vibrant locales and excellent world-building, and a plot that seems all too relevant in the state of the world today, all about finding truth and building a better future for the people, regardless of their rulers.

Augh! This book! I felt like the relationship angle was played up far too much in the first two books, so this book made downright stabby. Contrived angst and silly misunderstandings abounded. So why did I give it four stars? Because after the first 40% Pearson pulled it out of the nosedive and we started flying high and strong again.

After that first section, the rest of the book focused on Lia and her saving her kingdom. Of course Rafe has to come in and save his girl >_>, but whatever. Pearson should focus on her character development and adventure scenes, both the highly tense preparation scenes and the battle scenes were terrifically written. I wish she'd step away from love triangle, and write to her strengths for a WHOLE BOOK next time.

So, if you can keep from throwing the book across the room during the first section, the rest of the book is well worth a read and the conclusion is pretty darn strong. Plus, can we all admit that this title and cover are wayyy better than the first two books in the series?

Lovely and empowering conclusion to this teen fantasy/romance trilogy. Looking forward to Pearson's new series, set in the same world!

THE MELONS

I loved the conclusion to the trilogy! I enjoyed seeing Lia, Rafe, and Kaden change in great ways. Lia's mentoring of Natiya was a fun growth point. I hated to see the book end even though it was longer than the others in the series.

I LOVE this series so much. I waited for this book. Lia is my favorite she is badass and caring. I ship her and Rafe. There are some points where I feel it got tiring maybe it was because I wanted to know who Lia would finally be with.

This conclusion to the Remnant Chronicles was incredible! It had been over a year since I had read book #2 and was a little fuzzy on the details, but I was instantly hooked again when I started reading this book! Action, romance, mystery and a wonderfully strong female character... this book had it all!
