America has this attitude of being the cops of the world and having the greatest system which everyone must adopt. But every time they try to impose their will on other nations the results are catastrophic. Now that Trump the dictator has absolute power, the world is in big trouble.

...extraterrestrials must have kidnapped Bill Murray & returned an unfunny android replica of him to us here on earth. Cheap shot movie tries to save itself by having the viewer root for oppressed muslim girls.

Bill Murray has stooped to a new low with this boondoggle.
Some of his deadpan lines were good. The Afghans would have killed anyone and the girl who violated their laws and customs.
Liked the Cat Stevens music.

Meh... It was just meh. I watched it but I wasn't impressed.

There were some things to appreciate in this movie, one being the underlying story of a young girl that risks it all to sing (and win) as the first woman on the "Afghan Star" television show. After that, not much else . . .

I love me some Bill Murray... but even he couldn't bring this one out of the depths of so-so on the border of boring. Try St. Vincent instead.

the first 1/2 hour was a snooze, but then it got good. Funny, even touching.

Bill Murray never fails to charm us with his distinct and quirky sense of humor. Good story, cool cast, funny and engaging throughout, well worth watching.

The cultural message behind this movie was important and moving. It demonstrated that the world is changing where equality will triumph over old archaic beliefs that have restricted societies that have trouble letting go of the past. You could feel the urgency of the people representing the afghan culture (filmed in Morocco) just wanted to break the oppressive system and vote for their singing sensation.
