I loved the 1st 5 Blake books, and I keep hoping they will return to that level of awesome! And for a while, I thought they might; with HIT LIST and SKIN TRADE. This book would have been better if the sex scenes had been shortened by a lot. I listened to the audiobook and was able to skip whole 7-10 minute tracks and still kept up with the "storyline". And that is an audiobook where I LIKE the narrator a lot! I get that Anita loves Micah and Nathaniel. I get that she is polyamorous. I get that she needs a lot of sex. I get that multiple cops don't like that she sleeps with vamps and weres - these same arguments happen as much as the screaming sex scenes... But can we please get back to the mystery and crime solving?

Thankfully, the sex scenes have been reduced compared to the last ones she published.

It was alright. I really liked some of the concepts and ideas Hamilton's come up with. The interaction between Anita and RIPIT is gold, as is how we see more of Anita's changing relationships.

Overall though, it seems like the book was just an excuse to go from sex scene to sex scene. Don't get me wrong, I like a little smut as well as the next person, but that seems like the driving force of this book. It's lacking alot of the things that made me like the series. Still, it's an alright read, and a good stepping stone to a new plot arc in the series. I just hope that it is a stepping stone and not just the way these books are going to go now.

Yay! - Anita is back, and tough as ever. This particular book is very police-procedural, but still manages to fit it some great paranormal craziness in, too.

Not a great book. Repeats a lot as explains characters etc throughout the book. Felt that it was written to start an Asher "spinoff".

Anita Blake is back – and this one merges the early Blake (all thriller/murder-mystery) with the later Blake (all sex alla time) in an interesting balancing act. I’m pleased that she continues to develop as a character (although thank goodness, no more manifesting new animals to call this time around) – will her constantly evolving powers never cease? And how do the less powerful feel under her boots? She’s thinking about that a lot.

I always enjoy her books, this was no exception. Not as action packed as earlier books, I feel this book is an introduction for future scenarios about Asher and the new vampire Benjamin. The ending was very abrupt.

Better than the last few have been but Anita really does need to get over the angst of multiple lovers. Still felt like the story wasn't full conceived though, and it ended really quickly.

Laurell K. Hamilton's eariler works are her best. And her fay series is great.

Another guilty read for me. I liked the series better when Anita was solving crimes, not details of her love life so much. Still, another quick summer read of a series I haven't yet become tired of.
