This book is excellent for late and struggling readers. It is easily customized to suit your child's pace, and builds in an orderly way that helps your child gain fluency and confidence.

Don't let this title fool you. This book is pretty thick. HOWEVER, this is a wonderful resource that teaches children to read. I'm using this to teach my 3 year old brother how to read, and he's starting to catch on. The way this book breaks down phonics and how to read is very refreshing and is easy to grasp for children. By the end of this book, a child should be able to read at a 2nd grade level. Pick this up if you want a good resource to teach a child to read, or to help a child struggling to read.

It was very straightforward to teach my 5 yo. We were able to get started on day 1 and only spent about 10 minutes a day. The format of sounds first, then words to forming sentences and stories with sounds already learned made it interesting for my child. The big print was a plus.
