"New Jersey state police officer Doug Brock has been after infamous criminal Nicholas Bennett for years. When Bennett kills someone close to Doug, however, Doug's investigation--and his life--start spiraling out of control. He's placed on indefinite suspension from the police force and breaks things off with his fianceé but he can't let the case go, and he continues an off-the-books investigation on his own. When Doug's former partner on the force, Nate Alvarez, receives a call from Doug saying he's discovered something big, something terrifying, something they need to call in the FBI to handle, Nate is furious that Doug has still been working the case. But when the call ends abruptly, and shortly afterward Doug is found in a hotel room, shot and in critical condition, Nate's anger turns to fear. When Doug finally awakens from his coma, however, he has no memory of the case, or even the last several years of his life. But the pull of what he might have discovered is too strong, and he finds himself immersed in a desperate search for truth once again, regardless of the danger. Once again Rosenfelt has written a propulsive and compelling thriller that will rivet readers from the first page to the last"-- Provided by publisher.

Better than average. First time I have read this author. Worth trying some more of his books.

Book claims to be 274 pages, but a full quarter of that is white space. The "Funny" passages were cute, but not laugh out loud or even snicker funny. I like the characters and it is well told. About a four hour read.

I wasn't sure, at first, that I was going to like this book. I love the Andy Carpenter series that David Rosenfelt writes - and this felt too serious at first. Before long, however, the author's sense of humor came shining through and I ended up enjoying the book. AND looking forward to the next one!

The only thing that struck me as odd was the cover of the book. It doesn't have anything to do with the book, as far as I can tell...

Thoroughly enjoyable. My second book by this author - will be looking for more.

Love David's writing style-sarcasm, humour and witticisms. This was a great stand alone read, although, I am addicted to the Andy Carpenter series.
I couldn't put this book down and finished it in one day.

Interesting scenario. Very much enjoyed the clues.

I found this author about a year ago and love his books. There is no violence or sex just a good mystery. I love the light, subtle humour he uses throughout his books. This standalone book is no exception. I did not see the ending coming.

Entertaining police procedural reminiscent of the author's Andy Carpenter series but slightly more serious. His books are so readable before you know it you're done. Interesting hook with retrograde amnesia & engaging dialogue make this a quick, fast paced read. If you like his other books you'll enjoy this stand alone.
