In June 2005, four U.S. Navy SEALs left their base in Afghanistan for the Pakistani border. Their mission was to capture or kill a notorious al Qaeda leader. Less than twenty-four hours later, only one of those Navy SEALs remained alive. This is the story of how team leader Marcus Luttrell, the sole survivor of Operation Redwing, and the desperate battle that led to the largest loss of life in Navy SEAL history. More than anything this is the story of how his teammates stood beside him until he was the last one left; blasted unconscious by a rocket grenade, blown over a cliff, but still armed and breathing.

I'm sorry to say this, but this book is ridiculous. I know that Marcus Luttrell is a great American hero now - but maybe you have to be an American to understand why. Not only that this book is very badly written (which I can overlook - just because somebody is not a great writer he/she could still have an interesting story to tell) but frankly, at points, I was very scared about the narrow mindedness of the author. He seems to be revengeful, close minded, and only caring about 'American lives'. Well, who gives a damn about other people's lives, suffering, injustice and general well being when Americans are in danger, right?
I was so angry while listening to this book that I almost didn't finish it. But than I changed my mind and did so, because I wanted to hear it all. And it didn't get better. When it was over, I couldn't help myself feeling upset and let down. It's one thing to listen to a bad book. To listen to a true story from somebody who's out there, doing such a dangerous job and have an attitude like this - is just scary.
