Very lousy. One of the worst performances of Will Smith's career, and the definite lowpoint of Jaden Smith's. I kind of feel like Jaden would not even be an actor if not for his father's good reputation and performance. Special effects are alright.

I like Will Smith, but the "young guy"? Hmm. This movie seemed to have something missing!

Good actors don't automatically make good screenplay authors. Decent enough movie, but not much logic involved. This same plot could have been used in other genres besides SciFi, with son having to save father, etc. Jaden needs to go to acting school! I feel sorry for the Eagle/vulture creature which saved Jaden -- it had much more screen presence.

A fine movie for preteens. Holes all over the plot that made me cringe.

This really wasn't a very good film. Tense but slow moving. Nothing really gets resolved. Some good movies you don't mind seeing again. I won't be watching this film again.

Let's just say that my expectations were very low. M. Night Shamalamadingdong has a pretty bad track record as far as I am concerned so I thought this was going to be a total piece of crap. So, it turned out to be better than I expected. I actually didn't find myself hating it. Sure Will Smith's son overacts a bit and Will Smith underacts a bit, but overall not bad. Don't go in with too many expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed the special effects and the lush scenery. I didn't care for Will Smiths performance but the movie really held my attention. I don't know why it has so many bad reviews I enjoyed it, to each their own I guess.

A touching story of a father and his whiny son who throws tantrums at every turn and needs to be on the mobile with his dad every moment just so he won't lose control and wet his shorts. The movie had some nice special effects. But I just kept imagining that the main character was sucking his thumb just off camera.
If you don't mind watching a scared brat running around the planet, you may like much more than me.

Cypher Raige: Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity Kitai. Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice. We are all telling ourselves a story and that day mine changed.
