Molly Malone investigates the death of a young congressman which leads her on a path to a shadowy cabal of power-hungry politicians that murder anyone who gets in their way.

The second book in New York Times bestselling author Maggie Sefton’s dazzling political mystery series

Beltway doyenne Samantha Calhoun has learned many lessons in a lifetime of politics, and she relishes teaching certain young congressmen everything she knows. But when her latest fling, married U.S. Rep. Quentin Wilson, is found dead in Samantha’s home, she turns to longtime friend Molly Malone for support.

Putting to use her many well-positioned connections, Molly learns that Wilson had been researching a financial bill sponsored by a veiled coalition of politicians—the same bill that her niece Karen Grayson was investigating when she was murdered. Picking up the trail where Grayson and Wilson left off, Molly fears she will be the next victim of the shadowy cabal’s insatiable appetite for power.

Critical error. When A member of the of the House of Representatives dies in office, he/she can only be replaced by a special election. She has him being appointed by the governor, that works for a senator, but not a Rep. Check the constitution.

Same bunch of bad guys as in the first in the series. Some close calls but it seems like Molly is unwilling to connect some of the dots. Also, there were several continuity issues in this book, like some people planning to leave town before noon but still there much later in the day with no apparent explanation or acknowledgement of a change in plans, like hidden audio surveillance found but not the hidden video surveillance. Really? You're starting to lose me on this new series.
