Good soviet Sub drama> cold war era intrigue ~420. Excellent acting and set design. a good watch

This film is pretty slow with some wooden acting, a fairly predictable script, some unnecessary back stories and some serious plot holes. However, it was mildly entertaining especially if one like submarine movies.

Very well done!
If you liked Crimson Tide you will like this.

Not bad, but should have been better. Not as tension filled as it needed to be for a nuclear war scenario. Ending was a little confusing at first. Good performace by Ed Harris. David Duchovny was effective in limited role as villian. The real life story was more interesting, because it was possibly real.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

I can't get it to play in any Blu-Ray Player that I have. Even after the updates!

Excellent script and political intrigue inside an old USSR sub. I liked "Hunt for Red October" and like this one as well. Rotten Tomatoes review was poor for all sorts of cinematic failures but I enjoyed those so called "short comings."

An interesting story but not very well executed. A great movie if you like claustrophobic movie sets and American actors trying (not very hard) to play Soviet submarine men.

Demi: There's a Ukrainian proverb that says: "Share a tent with Gypsies, and wake up in a field of shit."

Demi: There are only two reason why a boat would go rogue. One is to defect, and the other is to start a war. And I don't think we're defecting!

Bruni: What you do not understand, and what our politicians don't want to accept or face, is that the Americans have acquired a first-strike nuclear capability.
Demi: Well, even if that's the case, what makes you think they'd use it?
Bruni: *We* would.

Demi: The Americans value individual life above everything else. They wouldn't tolerate the loss of even one single city.

Demi: The Americans *do* have an incentive for peace.
Bruni: What would that be?
Demi: Empathy. Humanity.
Bruni: You'd wager the survival of our country on that?
