The Host (2013) is directed by Andrew Niccol and is PG-13. I give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars. This movie is about when Earth was colonized by an alien race that wipes out the minds of humans and turns their bodies into hosts. Most of mankind has been destroyed, but people like a girl named Melanie and her family have survived and are hiding. Melanie is captured by a Seeker and has a Soul called Wanderer implanted in her body, but she refuses to get in control. When Wanderer betrays her people to save Melanie, the Seeker starts searching for Wanderer/Melanie and her family.

this was an okay movie, there was a lot of romance.

Alas. This film did not do justice to the book. I agree with sunnyfeline. It focused more on the romance than the fight to survive in the caves, it added unnecessary car chases and gunfights, and it skipped quite a bit of character development. To be fair, it did follow the plot of the book pretty well, but they chose unsuitable actors for the various roles.
Overall, this was an okay adaption of the amazing book, but it could have been better.

I went back to watch this again after finishing Stephanie Meyer's book, "The Host." I was really disappointed to see how this movie lacked depth with the characters. The film rushed and/or skipped over some important things that made the book enjoyable and good. If the director and writer(s) were worried about having too much to put into a 2-hour long movie, maybe they should've just split it up into two different movies. That would've made it much better if they gave it more time with getting to know the characters and follow the book more closely. I was also surprised to see how many of the movie characters didn't resemble the book characters. For example, Ian appears to be slender and average height in this movie. Also pretty young, almost as if he was a teenager. In the book, he's huge with some muscle and older (like his brother Kyle). That threw me off a bit and it was hard for me to enjoy it plus the other issues mentioned above in my review.

enjoyed it, my husband also said a lot of negative comments in the beginning of the movies, as other people in the comments. however by the end of the movie we were both into the plot. I enjoyed it, because its reality to the fact that earth, humans are almost always driven to the point to kill each other and even our planet. I believe it was a lot of morals and good things to take from the movie. I could see technology advancing as far as the health care in this movie, it was really cool to see that. in my opinion personally this was the best extraterrestrial alien like movie that caught my eye.

Hideous garbage for non-thinkers.

Teen-oriented variant of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" for the positive-thinking, optimistic new millenium. The best feature of this movie are the futuristic sets and costumes, which create a real sense of menace, which in turn is completely undone by the inane scenes in the hideout. For the real tension, see the 1956 or the 1978 above-mentioned movie or the 1975 "The Stepford Wives" (not the watered-down later versions).

Way too much romance/Drama
Honestly this had barely any action which was what I was hopeing for I mean movie would be 100% good for me if not all the kissing and Drama which made it a 67% but other than that good movie!
