This cute, 1945 Comedy/Western/Romance (which contains some cross-dressing) has the rugged Robert Mitchum getting his butt kicked, literally, and cowboys cuddling up at night in order to keep warm while sleeping out in the cold Texas desert.

Set in the year 1887, Pecos Smith (played by the 28 year-old Mitchum) and his loyal sidekick, Chito Rafferty, come to the aid of Rill Lambeth and her amiable father whose over-loaded wagon has broken down (with the horses running off) in the middle of the desolate Texas wastelands.

Filmed in b&w, this light-weight Western contains some very beautiful scenes which were shot in the Alabama Hills of sunny California.

Based on the Zane Grey novel of the same name, this often amusing story has a brisk running time of only 66 minutes.
