Happy 70th Anniversary to the movie "The Fighting Sullivans". I have seen this many times over the years and it always makes me feel proud of my country. It is probably the best known film by director Lloyd Bacon. It is well deserved because he put together a cast that was up to this inspiring true story of the Sullivan family during World War II. They had five sons and they all enlisted. Their father is played by Thomas Mitchell who by the time he made the "Fighting Sullivans" had been a famous father in such films as "Gone With the Wind". The five sons are played perfectly by Edward Ryan as Al, John Campbell as Frank, James Cardwell as George, John Alvin as Matt, and George Offerman as Joe. Now none of the five men was a Hollywood star and that is what the role called for. These actors look and act like the real Sullivan boys who went off to war. I couldn't be prouder of the Sullivans even 70 years later. Your all hero's with me and our country. Watch their story with pride!!
