A very good film with great acting that you just don't see that much of anymore. I didn't recognize Natalie Wood at first . it was eventually her eyes that told me that the character of the little girl was she. What an opportunity to have been acting with Orson Welles.

This film, made during the golden years of Orson Welles, gives us a chance of seeing the great acting of Welles and also a chance to see an 8 year-old Natalie Woods in what may be her first credited role. While the critics were only mildly favorable to the film, I thought it was one of the best films I have seen this year. It is slightly marred by the Hollywood practice of showing African-Americans only as either buffoons or as servants. I wonder if the ending was changed to pass the Hays Code of not allowing a film to end with a woman who has two husbands at the same time.

Very moving, with a very young and excellent Natalie Wood.
