Truly a beginners pocket guide! It offers a simple systematic approach to identifying North American trees based on foliage, flowers, fruit & seeds, and bark. With small color photos of the primary identifiers for each tree (typically leaves) in addition to short descriptions of each tree, it is perfect for wandering through the forest and testing your knowledge. I used it for a children's guided tour at identifying trees and it was exactly what we needed to help us along! For those more curious, it also organizes the trees by family, includes a list of the scientific names, and offers a glossary at the back.
