Disasters that Shook the World --- by TIME --- edited by Kelly Knaur. A very thin compendium of, as the title suggests, disasters that shook the world. You’ll find Chernobyl and Bophal; there’s there’s the Concorde and the Titanic; as well as the Exxon Valdez and Gulf Oil Spill. Some natural disasters are there: New Orleans an d the hurricane but others are strangely missing: a whole slew of California earthquakes including the one in 1906 that destroyed the entire city is totally unaccounted for.
But I can understand. There have been so many disasters some natural, some not so; some very newsworthy others obscure; some close to home while others were buried on the other side of the world.
It is an interesting little book. Just a few facts, a couple of pictures, and then on to the next disaster. Junior researchers take note: only 106 pages long.
