Since reading Mina's Garnethill Trilogy, I try to read every new book this author comes up with. I like mysteries, but only if they're well written, and Mina never fails me. Her books are gritty, to use a trendy term, but give the reader the best of both worlds: mystery and literature. Each one I read seems better than the last one, yet I recently reread her very first book, and it was just as satisfying the second time around. FIVE STARS.

Excellent! Denise Mina is truly a great mystery/detective/suspense writer.

A better title for this book might be "Still waiting for something to happen". I felt a bit cheated at the end. However, this book has great characters that never act as you would expect so you're kept guessing. Maybe I just guessed wrong but the whole thing left me less than satisfied.

I haven't read the others so I missed a bit of background but still enjoyed this book. Morrow is a complex character, trying to keep it together while dealing with a personal tragedy & internal politics at the police station. An english police procedural.

An outstanding thriller from Scottish writer Mina; dark, thoughtful and full of fascinating character studies.
