Dark woods and teenagers never end well and this book is no exception. When a girl mysteriously disapears, her friends try to cope with the loss.
Based on a true story.

This was much more a coming-of-age story than a suspense tale, so readers expecting the latter may be disappointed. However, it is a well-done exploration of the aftermath of violence in the community, both in terms of the town and individuals affected by the deaths.

AMAZING!! I think this is one of the best books Mary Downing Hahn has written. It shows you that sometimes writing what you know is definitely a good thing. I fell asleep reading this book and then I finished it immediately when I woke up the next morning. I would recommend this book to upper middle school and high school readers.

Having never read anything by Hahn, I didn't know what to expect. This based on true events mystery was a suspenseful read I didn't want to put down. We are kept in the dark about the killer's identity, which is likely the best possible ending, even if it did drive me a little batty.

Not just a murder mystery, but a coming of age story, I was absolutely taken in by the story.

Although I was never really pulled into the story, I finished it in hopes of it getting better. It didn't. The mystery and interest I was expecting never came, and it was all centered about the inner conflicts of the main character which I found rather boring.

This book is a great mystery. The book leads you to think one person did it but really it someone entirly else. When I went and saw Mary Downing Hahn she said that this book would be her favorite book because of how close she is to it. Must Read

I love Mary Downing Hahn's mystery books written for middle-schoolers so I was excited to see a new book for teens. I probably would have liked Mister Death more if I hadn't been expecting a mystery novel. I think the summary and the title are a little misleading. Yes, there are some murders, but it's not really a mystery as to who committed them. The reader knows almost immediately who did it and what their motivation was. Mister Death is really more a coming of age story. The main character thoughts about God, sex and her future dominate. The murders themselves are only addressed as an impact on the community.
