JMJ.
When I saw the trailer, I purchased it at the library. It was a disappointment. There was a near rape scene and it made me sick. I read through it anyway and regret it. Explicit material is not needed in romance books, and from a Catholic perspective, it is not needed to make the story more romantic. In conclusion, though the history of doctors, Native Americans, wagon trains, and others was fascinating, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. It's not appropriate for the soul and it's influential. God bless!

I expected the book to read like a historical romance and that`s what it is. Knowing the story was based on real people and their actual trek made it more interesting, but the constant references to their supposed unrequited love for one another became tiresome.

This is a wonderful book inspired by the true story of Marcus and Narcissa Whitman.
The Author's Note should definitely be read for a further glimpse into the lives of this young missionary couple.

I'm a fan of all of Jody Hedlunds books. Her books deliver!

I cried tears when i got to the last page because i could not believe that the book was over. I felt that i needed more. Couldn't she just write one more chapter? Amazing book, i flipped back and read again.
