Agree that the actors were 2nd rated except the French actress Eva Green who also played an enigmatic character in "300: Rise of An Empire." Apparently viewers were not too enthusiastic as there is no plan for season 2.

the actors were great, the costumes and scenery were just incredible; but this is a bizarre grostesque retelling of the Camelot story ... it is stripped of any of its epic or legendary elements

The first and final season of Camelot is a fantasy drama based on the legend of King Arthur. It redefines the classic tale making it more adult with plenty of sex, sword-fighting and magic. The main promise and goal shared by Arthur and Merlin is to forge a better kingdom and follow through on that promise. Other themes include the tragedy of falling in love with the wrong person as well as the potential disaster of unbridled ambition.

Sarted kinda lame,.. but I found that it became progressively involving and enjoyable. King Author is cast against type, and frequently exasperating,.. but that makes it more interesting. The creative tweeking of the traditional Legend is engaging, and good production values enhance the imagination.

I enjoyed this movie but expected the lead actor to have more of a powerful presence. He just lacked sincerely in his eyes upon playing an important role as the prince. It was difficult to take him seriously on several because of the acting and not to mention he looks skinny to be tough lol the other actors were great . I would prefer to watch Merlin which is more pg rated but the actors are so much more believable and it has humor along with action and suspense which I love. I would def watch season two if there even is one and I would recommend it to friends. It does have lots of nudity and sex scenes so it's not for good for youngsters

I wanted very much to love this. I more or less didn't even like it. There was some good acting. The sets, costumes and scenery looked good most of the time. The action (not nearly enough) was done relatively well. However, I just couldn't get into it. Arthur looks like trailer trash or perhaps a carny. Guenivere looks like she would be more likely a cast member on The Hills. Nothing about the storyline or the character arcs reminded me even remotely of the Aurthurian legend. This was just a miss for me. Some nudity/sex and half-baked low fantasy soap opera just made me realize how well Game of Thrones had done the same genre, with similar themes, SO much better.

Initially, I've had a lot of mixed feelings on this one, especially given some of the negative views here. Granted some things may not coincide with the traditional King Arthur story, or even portrayed by other authors, I found the deeper I watch the series the more enthralling it becomes. I particularly enjoyed Arthur's sister, Morgan and her nun ally, Sybil. It's funny how some people, like myself, cheer for the bad guys. Merlin is a bit of an odd fellow, not old like he has always been perceived. And Arthur himself...pass. Overall, I find myself hungrier for another episode the further I get into the series. Lots of action and sex, you won't be deprived!

F for classic mythology, but A for soap-opera value. At first I was horrified with this series for bastardizing Britian’s great cycle of Arthurian myths, diminishing its classic tales and noble themes to petty human schemes, scrapes, and foibles, and letting Merlin upstage King Arthur as the far stronger, sexier, more complex figure. But after watching the series for a while, I ended up thoroughly enjoying it for what it is: a trashy, sensational, entertaining, suspense-filled, medieval-costumed potboiler. Despite the bad press it received, fans of soap operas especially should give it a chance.

Arthur and Guinevere gazed at the stars in night sky ---

Guinevere: What do you think they are, up there?
Arthur: Maybe the eyes of the gods keeping watch. Or the many eyes of a single God. Spread across every land, seeing everything.

...later...

They're not the eyes of the gods; they're the eyes of those who've passed ... watching over us.

MORGAN: Do you remember when your parents died?
KING LOT: Yes. I killed them.

MERLIN to Authur: A king exists primarily as an idea. We persuade the people to believe in the idea of you, we can make it a reality.
