Becca and Howie Corbett are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of a shocking, sudden loss. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape. The journey is an intimate glimpse into two people learning to re-engage with each other and a world that has been tilted off its axis.

Not a thriller, not an action flick but a movie about the personal journey of a woman and her husband as they navigate through the anniversary of their young sons fatal accident and the effect it has had on their intimacy and marriage. So many people commenting seem to be only wanting flashy entertainment. There are amazing movies that cause a person to think, to grow, to change and typically they are not the ones produced to be 'spectacles'. I found this not to be "too" emotional; it was not gratuitous in this respect which I tend not to appreciate. This had good balance and I liked it very much.

Good film on serious subject.

Excellent performance from Kidman.

Excellent movie. Very good drama/script and acting.

A one-star rating means I think this movie is ok. There is no star for s l o w and boring. I imagine a live theatrical performance of this plot wherein parents lose a child being more dynamic. But it didn't transfer to the big screen. (OK, my living room television.)

Perhaps one of the most misleading covers for a movie; this ain't no romance. This is actually a tough one to watch — I wanted to sneak into my kid's room while he was sleeping and hug him after seeing this; grab the tissue box, for sure. I was pleasantly surprised by Nicole Kidman's performance, since I'm not a big fan of hers. The movie does a terrific job of showing just how harrowing an experience it would be to lose a child, how there would be constant reminders and sorrow.

the cover has nothing to do with the movie - so don't pick it up if your expecting a romance. It shows how differently people coop with losing a child, the acting was very believable. the ending with them pretending to be "normal" was a bit too much. but it was an ok movie.

Would've been far more interesting if the family in question didn't have everything. Oh woe, something bad happen in the best case scenario. What's with the lakeview picnic in the backyard!? Was it an attempt to make the storyline more palatable? the grieving process made sense but otherwise the movie was uninteresting.

This movie is painfully slow.

Nicole Kidman can certainly act, and the film is about a tragic circumstance but you will have seen every scene of it before.
