The film was very well done. Heartbreaking story of families broken apart during the apartheid era. The portrayal of the father's denial was very well written. There are so few stories about mixed families during that era in history.

Story of my life (almost) :) same sort of situation anyway...it really is hard. The skin bleaching scene really hit a chord with me. I remember when people made me feel that way, like something was wrong with my skin color.

A compelling true story. A black child is born to white parents(atavism) in apartheid era South Africa. He fights the courts to have her classified as white and eventually wins - at costs to family life. Estranged by white society the daughter lives with the blacks but now wants to be reclassified as black creating it's own set of problems.
The movie creates a lot of empathy for the girl whereas the father becomes obsessed with her "whiteness" and destroys the family.

This is an interesting view of personal and racial politics in South Africa based on the true story of a daughter born to white africaners with black genes. This is really worth watching.

I loved this movie, very good performances by all, you feel for Sandra and the injustices of this world.

Loved this movie, about an African female, born to White Parents. She has a hard time in life, being accepted as a white female. Was reclassified as white, then had a harder time in life.
