a great book by rick

Oct 12, 2017

this book is one of the best books by Rick Riordan this is because the adventures are crazy and fun. The best part is when they all team up together to try and keep the giant king from rising again and the way Hera takes Jason's memory and made piper and Leo think that they knew Jason makes it even better.

I loved this book, along with the other H.O.O's It's areal page turner. However, I think that Introducing a bunch of new characters at once is a bit overwhelming. Unless of course it's Leo and Coach Hedge.

Honestly speaking I could have gone without this book because without at least one classical character, I felt this was a bit of a drag. Leo, Piper and Jason are all new demigods brought to Camp Half Blood through Annabeth. But now there is the struggle of a new quest to free Hira from her caged prison, and it will be the ultimate test for the three demigods who are still aiming to find themselves. Leo cannot believe everything is connected; from his childhood memories and sorrows up until now. Jason recalls nothing from his past life, and feels lost in this world despite being the son of Zeus. Piper has problems when it comes to her celebrity father, her Cherokee blood and the girls at her cabin. But all in all, when Piper’s dad comes into the picture, all three of this faithful friends must find themselves within each other. We come closer and closer to the Final Prophecy, the prophecy in which seven demigods must fight Mother Earth to save the world and their camps. A decent start! Rating 3/5

Yet another amazing book by Rick Riordan that kept me up until three in the morning, introducing new characters that we will soon adore. There are plenty of humorous scenes in very much horrible scenarios, that will cheer anyone up. Leave it to Leo to cheer people up when held at gun point. Oops, I meant sword point. The quartet, Happy the dragon, Chef Leo the Tofu Taco Export, Beauty Queen Piper and Jason were sent onto a quest to save Hera, the goddess of Marriage. On the way, written in three different perspectives, we got to know the characters and all their self-conflicts and secrets they kept. Myths suddenly turned into something more after I read this book.

I don't like the fact that even though Jason was a son of Zeus, he was seen as this "handsome, good-looking guy". I feel like it would've been better if he'd been a son of Aphrodite. I felt like this story was implicitly sexist, too, from the fact that the only power Piper had was the ability to charm people with her beauty even though she had her dagger, which she didn't use as much as she could've. But this book is one of the few books that kept me reading and reading and reading.

I really liked Lost Hero because it showed the perspective from all the main characters. Another reason I liked this is because the Greek mythology go's really well in the current time, I also like how it's starting to introduce roman mythology.

The Lost Hero is a book written by Rick Riordan. THe book is about 3 misbehaving kids going on a trip to the grand canyon but everything goes wrong. The book is packed with a great plot and great characters that were showed really well. The first book in the blood of Olympus is one of the best books rick has written.

It is a great book for the start of the series. I like it a lot and it leaves a good ending.

I listened to this on audiobook, so that influenced my reading experience of this particular book. First, comment on the narration: I liked it decently well. Joshua Swanson has a Hiccup-like neutral voice, and his impressions of the other character’s voices are fun. He’s not so great with female voices (especially Annabeth), but Coach Hedge and Leo, for instance, are spot-on. He also mispronounces Hera and Thalia, but I can overlook that.
As always, Rick Riordan creates great characters. Coach Hedge and Leo are my favorite characters. They’re both very funny and people I would totally want to know IRL.
This definitely reads as a sequel series to Percy Jackson, which has its positives and negatives. Riordan has done an excellent job of making it different enough that it’s still original and enjoyable. New demigods, new monsters, new rules, new villains, new premise. At first, it feels like he’s trying too hard to make the new villain sound worse than the titans, except that she actually is, so it works. I’m not as familiar with the mythology he’s pulling up, which means it feels new, but I’m not able to go “oh ho ho yeah, that guy!” I really like the integration of Roman mythology; it totally provides that new, interesting twist on the Greek stuff. I'm eager to start the next book! It’s definitely fun and enjoyable; absolutely perfect for its intended genre and audience.

The Lost Hero is a wonder! I loved the way the plot was narrated by three different perspectives - those of Jason, Leo, and Piper. The suspense kept me reading till the end, while humor added to the fun of reading this interesting story. However, I would advise one to read the Percy Jackson series first - to be able to understand some concepts book better while reading through the eyes of an experienced demigod at Camp Half-Blood.

Jason studied the statue, looking for anything he had in common with the Lord of the Sky. Black hair? Nope. Grumbly expression. Well maybe. Beard? No thanks. In his robes and sandals, Zeus looked like a really buff, really angry hippie.
Yeah, cabin one. A big honor, the other campers had told him. Sure, if you like sleeping in a cold temple by yourself with hippie Zeus frowning down at you all night.

Next is probably my favorite:

Coach Hedge did the obvious thing. He raised his club and shouted, 'Die!'

Now the quotes I like, although that last one I am sure Elsa would have liked.
'Leo,' Jason said, 'you're weird.'
'Yeah, you tell me that a lot.' Leo ginned. 'But if you can't remember me, that means I can reuse all my old jokes. Come on!'

Jan 08, 2016

Well I told myself I would open the book and find a quote from that page and post it on here. So here it is:
'She's the goddess of snow,' Jason said. 'What's she going to do, throw snowballs at us?' But as he said it, Jason had a feeling Khione could do a lot worse.

Whatever Hera had done to shoot them across the country, it wasn't good for piper's stomach. She could barely control her nausea. Leo wasn't so lucky. He jumped of the table, ran to the nearest bronze brazier and threw up in it - which was probably not a great bunt offering for the gods.

7 half-bloods shall answer the call, to storm or fire the world must fall, an oath to be kept with a final breath, and foes bear arms to the doors of death.
You'd expect that after the last great prophecy it would take years for this one to come to pass. But of course Percy's luck isn't that good. I'm Jason and I just woke up in a bus driving to a museum in the middle of nowhere. Next thing I know my coach reveals himself to be a goat, a bunch of living clouds try to kill us and I can fly. Now I'm on my way to save a goddess from an army of monster with two people I've never met before in my life. This should be fun!

Jason has a problem. He doesn't remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she's his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they're all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for "bad kids." What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea-except that everything seems very wrong.

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, and her vivid nightmares reveal that he's in terrible danger. Now her boyfriend doesn't recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. What is going on?

Leo has a way with tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, and fine-looking girls. What's troubling is the curse everyone keeps talking about, and that a camper's gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist they are all-including Leo-related to a god.
