This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

Well done "Sting" type of movie. Reminded me of The Spanish Prisoner" with Steve Martin. Hugh Jackman is very menacing, while towering over Ewan McGregor

Interesting erotic plot with an unnatural ending in terms of logic. Movie would have worked better without the final scenes -- But lucky for those who prefer happy endings:

Good suspense throughout, despite some improbable plot lines -- especially the closing scenario. Main leads (Jackman especially) do a decent job.

Watchable (Fair) - Deception (2008) **½ 107 min. starring Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman (X-Men fame), and Michelle Williams (from Dawson’s Creek) – The film has very good production values (which is like saying that someone whose not attractive has a great personality) but unfortunately, the story does have some major plausibility issues making it difficult to accept this as anything but a film that tried and failed. I can’t really discuss the plot because it would give the film away. I was left with numerous plot holes, ridiculous situations and inconsistencies [o.k. I’ll give you one which shouldn’t spoil the plot – would anyone walk around with half a million dollars in cash next to someone who just tried to kill you?]. But there are a couple of priceless moments especially with Hugh Jackman’s discussion with a bank manager - you’ll probably be muttering to yourself “ah, clever”. Though film’s ending is contrived, it was fun watching Jackman in the role of villain; he does it well. By the way, our hero’s troubles begin at the moment that he falls into and buys into a sex club – justice is served. Ah, the blessings of sticking to the straight and narrow.
