Chaos erupts at Battle School when a student places a gift in another student's shoe on Sinterklaaus Day, an act of rebellion that forces everyone to make a choice during the War over Santa Claus.

Blackwell North Amer

Orson Scott Card offers a Christmas gift to his millions of fans with A War of Gifts, a short novel set during Ender Wiggin's first years at the Battle School where it is forbidden to celebrate religious holidays.
The children come from many nations, many religions; while they are being trained for war, religious conflict between them is not on the curriculum. But Dink Meeker, one of the older students, doesn't see it that way. He thinks that giving gifts isn't exactly a religious observation, and on Sinterklaas Day he tucks a present into another student's shoe.

This small act of rebellion sets off a battle royal between the students and the staff, but some surprising alliances form when Ender comes up against a new student, Zeck Morgan. The War over Santa Claus will force everyone to make a choice.

My 7th Orson Scott Card book of which 6 are from the Ender’s family of books. I would not call it one of the author’s best efforts. Doctor-at-Bass! D. A.

I enjoyed the story (really liked the ending). Though it made me a bit sad, I really like it. It's not very long, though it does have a lot of depth to it. I definitely recommend this.

It was fun to read another story in the Ender's Game universe. I liked the different look at Battle School and Ender.

A nice addition to the Ender universe, exploring the various religions of the students of Battle School. This book certainly develops peripheral characters, but unfortunately doesn't expand upon Ender's character. I recommend this book for anyone who thoroughly enjoyed Ender's Game.

Short and quick to read. Isn't a strong stand alone story but a nice addition the the Ender's universe.
