Every so often a character so captures the hearts and imaginations of readers that he seems to take on a life of his own long after the final page is turned. For such a character, one book is not enough—readers must know what happens next. Now Dean Koontz returns with the novel his fans have been demanding. With the emotional power and sheer storytelling artistry that are his trademarks, Koontz takes up once more the story of a unique young hero and an eccentric little town in a tale that is equal parts suspense and terror, adventure and mystery—and altogether irresistibly odd.

We’re all a little odd beneath the surface. He’s the most unlikely hero you’ll ever meet—an ordinary guy with a modest job you might never look at twice. But there’s so much more to any of us than meets the eye—and that goes triple for Odd Thomas. For Odd lives always between two worlds in the small desert town of Pico Mundo, where the heroic and the harrowing are everyday events. Odd never asked to communicate with the dead—it’s something that just happened. But as the unofficial goodwill ambassador between our world and theirs, he’s got a duty to do the right thing. That’s the way Odd sees it and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death.

A childhood friend of Odd’s has disappeared. The worst is feared. But as Odd applies his unique talents to the task of finding the missing person, he discovers something worse than a dead body, encounters an enemy of exceptional cunning, and spirals into a vortex of terror. Once again Odd will stand against our worst fears. Around him will gather new allies and old, some living and some not. For in the battle to come, there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. Whether you’re meeting Odd Thomas for the first time or he’s already an old friend, you’ll be led on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror, wonder and delight—to a revelation that can change your life. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

I really like this series. This is the 2nd book in the Odd Thomas books. This series is all about good vs evil and the price that sometimes has to be paid for good to win. Thomas is such a good soul!! I don't usually like books like these because they can make me cry which I hate, I'm not one of those people that likes a good cry every once in a while I just feel sad and tired!! This series is the exception. I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan from way back and this series doesn't appear to change that. Happy reading.

I liked this book, though it's much less grand in scale when compared to the first book. I'm going to work through the series unless the third book proves too tedious. So far I like the character enough to ignore the flaws in the plotting.

Would love to read more books with Odd as the main character.
Koontzs' writing is the most involving, descripting, insightful and almost mesmerizing I have read. I'm struggling to find the correct adjectives here....... I love his writing but pace myself accordingly before reading.

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first in the series. Forever Odd was tautly written with excellent pacing. Insofar as most of the introductions to this world happened in the first novel, this novel was able to concentrate solely on this mystery and it was a fascinating outing for our boy Odd Thomas. Good stuff.

This one if very disappointing in comparison to book 1 and book 3 in the series. I understand that a lot of what this book did sets up for the third but it was too much running around. The only thing that redeemed this novel for me was Odd's introspection.

I love Odd Thomas. He is his usual self in this book and I loved the ending. The next book is even better.

I gave this 5 stars because it IS an amazing book. If I had never read Odd Thomas, I would have loved this book.

Since I did read, and ADORE, Odd Thomas, I liked this book but thought it was odd (no pun intended) that there was suddenly these brand new characters with whom Odd had such a great relationship with.

In saying that, Odd Thomas is the perfect character and I will be checking out the third book because of that reason. Nothing will top the first of the series though!
