I am SO glad that I didn't watch this movie directly on DVD, because it was bad enough on commercial cable! The acting wasn't that bad, and Patrick Swayze was definitely swoon-worthy, but it has WAY too much violence and blood for my taste. I know this is about a bouncer in a bar but it seemed that every five minutes he was getting himself into another fight. After a while it began to get very old. The saving grace of this movie (for me anyway) was the bit of romance thrown in. But if you have a weak stomach or prefer not to see at least an hour and a half of killings, bashings and beatings (not to mention blood and gore), I recommend skipping this one.

Oh, boy. This film is delightfully exploitative in that eighties action-flick style that makes you laugh at the ridiculous villain and root for blood. And ROAD HOUSE offers that in spades. Patrick Swayze fits like a glove in this ridiculously over-the-top wild ride of a film. It's so daft, but you can't look away. (And it's certainly not for the young 'uns -- nudity, gore, and cursing a-plenty!) Truly a retro throwback that indulges in all the right ways, ROAD HOUSE could quickly become your next guilty pleasure. I recommend it.
