Mosca Mye's father insisted on teaching her to read--even in a world where books are dangerous, regulated things. Eight years later, Quillam Mye died, leaving behind an orphaned daughter with an inauspicious name and an all-consuming hunger for words. Trapped for years in the care of her cruel Uncle Westerly and Aunt Briony, Mosca leaps at the opportunity for escape, though it comes in the form of sneaky swinlder Eponymous Clent. As she travels the land with Clent and her pet goose, Saracen, Mosca begins to discover complicated truths about the world she inhabits and the power of words.

This was super boring. I suppose it was rather realistic but boring all the same.

And what was with all the tobbaco? I don't think a twelve-year-old should have a pipe.

A great children's adventure novel for either boys or girls. Fly By Night teaches a little bit of history and politics without being overbearing and the story is exciting and surprising. I highly recommend this to any kid with an adventurous spirit or a love for reading since it is on the long side and one of its main plot points concerns printed material and its value.

Funny and well written--political intrigue, so many words, and the greatest goose ever.

Fun to read. A little political drama mixed with a determined girl with love for words. Beautifully written.

"Clent answered her flashing gaze with a look of utter shock. Behind his eyes stars were falling."
