This review is for the plotting of this story as I read the print version. This is the second King novel I have read. I preferred King's Mary and Sherlock Holmes novel, "The Beekeeper's Apprentice", to this one.The plot in "Night Work" revolves around women's abuse by their husbands and what to do about this abuse. King weaves too many long speeches about her views on this issue....why husband's abuse their wives, how women react to domestic violence, why they take no action, action they might take. Also woven throughout the plot are eastern philosophies about the warrior woman which King uses as a basis for structuring her female victims' right to take revenge. The ending with its solution is done so quickly on the last 2 pages I was taken aback that that was the conclusion of the story. This story was used too much as a soapbox for the author to express her views on a woman's issue. Just a satisfactory read.
