Great movie but does not quite do the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella justice. The book has so much more magic and humor.

I really enjoyed this movie. Kevin Costner does a great job. Recommended.

This film is a spiritual one. Not only is there an ephemeral quality to it, but its subject matter is about fulfilling or redeeming one's soul. True, baseball runs a vein through it, but it is about far more than a day on the field. There is a great deal of faith required beyond what makes sense and that dreamy, heartfelt aspect can almost bring you to tears at times. It is a beautiful film, one that exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate enough to see it on Blu-ray and the high definition landscape really adds to the feeling somehow. While some audiences require answers and need everything to be defined for them, this film doesn't cater to that sensibility, so bear that in mind before viewing. However, for those who want a film with plenty of heart and warmth, I highly recommend FIELD OF DREAMS.

Today being July 15, 2014, the Major League All Star Game is being played. Which makes me think of All Star Baseball Movies like Field of Dreams. I love the review of April 3, 2011 by BDS206 which is below. She captures the essence of the movie perfectly. Where ever you are BDS206 my thanks for a well done review of a deserving movie. I gave the movie Five Stars. Any chance in the meantime you would consider adding another star? I know you will be fair. I am comparing Field of Dreams to other baseball movies and this comes to the top of the list. As a side note, 29 KCLS patrons are waiting in line for one of five copies in the system. That shows me that Field of Dreams is still well remembered!

An Iowa corn farmer, hearing voices, interprets them as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the Chicago Black Sox come.

"If you build it, he will come." is the quote most remembered about this film. Well I say "If you watch it, you will cheer." Kevin Costner did 5 sports themed movies. This is my most favorite, and I was an extra in one of the others, For Love of the Game.

My 10-year-old boy is a baseball lover. He loves the movie so much and is pursuing his baseball dream at the same time.
