As an adult artist who enjoys process and working with my hands, I found inspiration and unspoken "direction" from the living treasures featured. Younger children will I am sure enjoy seeing "the process" and trying the hands on experience (if simplified and guided).

Moriguchi Kako - Yuzen Dyer
Pg 10: Mr. Moriguchi is proud that he can see what others miss at first: empty space! "The starting point of drawing and painting is to concentrate on the notion of space .... When you draw tree branches, you should look at a branch and at the shape of the space that is around the branch. As you do, you will begin to appreciate the beauty of empty space."
