Celebrates female "witchy" power as two young women seek to lift the family curse and find their version of happiness. Nicole Kidman does a good job in playing the "badder" sister who gets involved with a sociopath and turns to her sister (Sandra Bullock) for help. Aidan Quinn plays the good sheriff who knows there's something off about their story, and is conflicted about it. The seaside scenery is gorgeous and the older aunts are well-played.

I have no idea what is going on. The story just ends. Not recommended.

Are you looking to start your Halloween season off as early as possible? (raises hand quickly). Then, Practical Magic is a great place to begin. This magical rom-com follows the two Owens sisters played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman who are descendant from a long line of witches. The only problem is that their family has a curse placed upon it - any man an Owens witch falls in love with is doomed to die an early death. At its heart, Practical Magic is a beautiful story of sisterhood, and it is a film I watch every year around this time. Just be sure to watch it with a margarita and some Stevie Nicks music in hand.

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have a beautifully believable relationship on camera and there's such a charm to the story. Of course, my library is located where part of the movie was filmed so I'm slightly biased, but not enough to say it's not completely justified. So enjoy the wispy bangs, floor length daisy-printed dresses, and nostalgic 90's anthems.

This movie is really exciting I liked everything about the movie. how the sisters loves each other, the romantic side of the movie and the most was the characters. My favourite character is Sally because she is not like Gillian always with a big proplem. I give this movie 3.5/5 and I say for all the fantasy and romantic movies lovers that this is a really good movie. I recommend it for the teens and I don't think that it is appropriate for kids. @rahmamwlood of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

A feel good, cheer you up, fun movie.
Strong female characters and a cool take on magic/witches.

A great movie. One of my favorite performances for both actresses. Great for Halloween, or any time of year.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

I've never used the term "Chick Flic" as a put down ,.. until now.
The males were so cardoard thin and the script so weak , that I couldn't care about any of it !
Comedy ? ,.. what a waste of great talent.
