All my life, I’ve struggled to understand how the Holocaust could happen. How could millions of people be systematically murdered, by what was arguably the most advanced civilization on the planet, while other nations did nothing? Wiesel’s novel The Town Beyond the Wall wrestles with this question. Of all the books I’ve read about the Holocaust, The Town Beyond the Wall offered the clearest insights into the questions themselves. For anyone struggling to understand the Holocaust, I highly recommend this book.
