A very personal and revealing perspective of Charles Darwin. Less about his science more about the man and his personal challenges during his 30's and 40's, which were considerable. An eye-opening biopic

Compelling telling of portions of Darwin's struggles. I think he and his wife's stories deserve a full-feature treatment, along with his best supporters. Highly recommend a title - "Darwin's Armada" as background before watching Creation.

Learned a lot about Darwin's family life. Movie way to long. A tormented soul bucking the churches teaching and his wife's beliefs. Did they inherit a family estate? What was source of income? Had servants too!

Love Paul Bettany. OK with Jennifer Connelly. “Some good acting and fine cinematography are watered down in a tepid yawner that moves with the speed of natural selection, but without its irresistible sense of purpose.” Written by…

This is a film that successfully explores the depth and sensitivity of Charles Darwin (played by Paul Bettany), a morally conflicted scientist, loving father and husband to his 2nd couisin Emma (played by Jennifer Connelly - real life…

This is an incredibly interesting look at Darwin's motivation, his conflicts and eventual triumph.

I am inclined in general toward material that deals more directly with what might be called spiritual matters; I decided to try this on a hero of science. My reaction, initially, was near nausea. Perhaps it is a fair point that coming…

Creation was a slight disappointment when it came out, but I am not sure why. Possibly because films based on fact don't fit comfortably into marketable categories. The pro-evolution side found there wasn't enough science in it, which is a…

I was expecting more of a movie about Darwin's ideas, but this is really the story of how a family comes to cope with the death of a loved child. As such, it is well done and affecting.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way. Very predictable but still entertaining.

The actors and the director did a great job in my opinion, however its not an exciting movie to most people including me. Its rather predictable and non-climatic. With that said, if you are like me and love to challenge your brain and…

Some interesting points, and well acted. Sweet and poignant in places. Historical accuracy questionable.

Charles Darwin's "The origin of Species", first published in 1859, has been clled the biggest single idea in the history of thought. The book was sold out on its day of publication. This film is the story of how it came to be…

Beautiful cinematography and period design, some really great anecdotal incidents, and extremely well acted, but it is ponderous and really drags on in places, and it is pretty fanciful. It did, to my mind, bring out, without beating it…

Very disappointing...a suppositious look at Darwin's inner life, something akin to watching a movie about the life of Vincent Van Gogh without any presentation or examination of any of his works. As psycho-religious melodrama, it's…

Entertaining, although overdramatized. No real science is discussed, just alluded too and simplified into the god vs. science/evolution conflict.

The animal scenes, Darwin's travel stories and his scientific conclusions from them are the most interesting aspect of this movie. Otherwise it is the story of Darwin's personal struggle of religion versus science. The death of Darwin's…

Slightly slow-paced compared to movies reflecting modern day drama. It's probably because it is depicting something of its own to the viewer, an internal struggle that doesn't apply to today as much. But it's still worth a ponder, what…

I'm not certain that I actually 'liked' the movie. As with any dvd I watch all the special features first and this may have changed the impact of the film itself. The performances were solid ; clothing and sets good. I'd still recommend…

Paul Bettany is brilliant in this movie. His acting takes switches between the time prior to his daughter's death and after. Charles Darwin was a troubled man; conflicted between religion and creationism. This movie is a good reflection…

Wonderful movie protraying Charles Darwin as a family man and his struggle between what he was raised to believe (religion) and what he knew to be true (science). Shows a tormented struggle between the two and a deeply moving portrayal of…

Paul Bettany makes a wonderfully romantic Charles Darwin, displaying an original & tender combination of moral sensitivity, reverence, & wonder for science, nature, & life. I also loved the film's slow, quiet, contemplative observation of…
