I love this movie, for the simplicity, the switching from black & white, to color, and back to black & white. I love all of the characters that have passed on but leave the legacy of this adorable family film for the masses.

Just rewatched this classic for the first time in many years. it did not disappoint. The winged monkeys were just as amazing/terrifying as I'd remembered.

For three decades American families gathered around their television sets every year to watch a tale of a young girl who journeys into a fantasy land and, from her experiences, realizes there's no place like home. The Wizard of Oz was, in…

Charming and sometimes funny, with a great Oscar winning score by Herbert Stothart (the theme for the Wicked Witch Of The West is very reminiscent of Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Flight Of The Bumblebee"). Sadly, "The Wizard Of Oz" did…

comment to cliftonb: just watched AMERICAN OZ, documentary on FRANK BAUM...it was really the dakotas [N DAK] where he experienced the weather and ugliness and draining energy that he infused in Wizard of OZ...hope this helps you/redeems…

The most successful elements are arguably too disturbing for some children. On the other hand some visuals are too babyish—say, the Munchkinland backdrop. Ms. Garland provides much-needed unity: A nice accident that her persona is so…

While most everyone thinks this is one of the all-time best movies, having grown up in Kansas and traveled the world, it saddens me every time I have to defend Kansas because of the movie's depiction of Kansas; black and white, dry, weedy…

Released in 1939, one of Hollywood’s finest years in motion pictures, “The Wizard of Oz” was and still is an extraordinary film. As revolutionary then as it is entertaining now, this classic movie contains an intriguing shift from black…

For me - 1939's "The Wizard of Oz" is one of those truly remarkable make-believe stories from yesteryear that is such an all-round impressive production (cast, songs, costumes, sets) that its overall appeal never seems to wane, or get…

You know, every once in a while I like to enjoy the experience of viewing "The Wizard of Oz" all over again (mainly from a nostalgic perspective). And, it seems that each time that I do watch this particular fantasy/musical/adventure…

"The Wizard of Oz" is probably one of the most famous Hollywood films of the 1930's and, maybe, even the 1940's. No matter what age a person might be they are all familiar with this one. Ask anyone to name one of the most popular films of…

Pretty good movie for being 80 years old. Some classic songs and classic lines which are still used today. The best line, which I don’t hear often, was when the scarecrow said, “a lot of people don’t have brains and that doesn’t stop…

A classic that is fun to watch and iconic throughout. Some parts of it have not aged particularly well.

Filled with symbolism! Between watching this and the "Wiz" I believe the Wiz is a closer adaptation to what the author wrote than this film. This film is a message to all about how the world works, the puppet master, and the puppeteers. A…

Hello, darlings - Even though The Wizard of Oz is now almost 80 years old - It still manages to hold its own, for the most part. This somehow magical fantasy/adventure/musical picture will always remain one of my all-time favourites.
